Brampton, ON – Sensory Technologies is pleased to announce that as of September 1st , the first project with Central West LHIN, involving Complex Pediatric Care went live in eShift®. eShift® is a secure, web-based technology that has been clinically proven to lower readmission rates, provide increased capacity with existing front-line nursing staff, lower total treatment costs, increase consistent team-based care, and improve the family caregiver and patient experience. In combination with properly skilled staff, technology enabled support measures aim to keep children at home with their families and caregivers and out of hospital, further reducing the need for hallway medicine.
Through operational cost reductions, better reporting and improved quality of care, Sensory Technologies and eShift® will complement the Central West LHIN’s existing programs. To date, across other regions, the eShift® system has seen hospital readmission rates for complex adult end-of-life patients drop dramatically from 50% to <2%, hospital length of stay by 49.7% and total system costs by over 50% for key at risk patient populations, decreasing the overall costs on the heavily burdened health care system. The Central West LHIN team looks forward to driving similar positive impacts on patient care in the region, with plans to expand adoption to other patient populations as appropriate.
The Central West LHIN is the 5th Ontario LHIN to integrate eShift® enabled care, joining Erie St Clair, Southwest, Hamilton Niagara Haldiman Brant and Waterloo Wellington LHINs. Clinical pathways already active in the province include Complex Pediatrics, Palliative Care, Chronic Disease (COPD and CHF), Stoke rehabilitation and Orthopedic rehabilitation.
